I had not made any runs in that bad of air so I made a guess and ended up getting a driving lesson from perennial national Champ contender Rusty Cook. I had my best reaction time ever (.401) to his .406 and it was looking close at the finish line. About 50 feet before the stripe he disappeared! Man, did he ever dump me in a hurry. I got to get some of those brake pads! Anyway, I broke out by .015 and he was good by .03 at 15 mph slower than his normal speed.

I am really enjoying this Quick Rod racing. Reminds me of bracket racing several years ago in a couple ways. One is the reaction times are more variable by all racers. Two, hitting the 8.90 is harder than I thought so finish line driving is of utmost importance.

We are home for a few days then it is off to Eddyville Raceway (only 100 miles from home) for the IHRA HCS event this weekend. Hardly any time to get the car cleaned up or maintained so I will do it at Eddyville. Until then I hope you are enjoying our little "tour stories" and can relate to some of the things we encounter.

One last thing. I mentioned how rough Hwy. 131 was in Michigan and gave their DOT a hard time. They deserved it, but the Illinois DOT and their road construction detours and lane narrowing is just as stupid. There has to be a BETTER WAY to get cars around Chicago without a three-hour delay. It is incredible. I am always glad I live in a town that doesn't even have electric traffic signals yet! NICE to be home even if it is for only three days.
