Checking main bearing clearance with a dial bore gauge. This is the most accurate method and standard operating procedure at R&S Racing. This assures all main bearings fit correctly and have the clearances Tom wanted. Nothing is left to chance.

Tom is checking rod journal end of the rod for a couple things. One is to make sure rod is perfectly round when the rod bolts are stretched the correct amount and also to make sure the inside diameter with the bearing installed provides the correct clearance between the rod bearing and the crankshaft journal.
