NEXT MONTH:
We should be installing the engine, finishing up some plumbing and putting the final touches to the wiring on “Back-2-Basics III”. We are hoping for a late June debut. We need some things to fall into place but it will be close. I hope you will check back from time to time and see how we progress. To check on the engine we are building for this S&W Race Cars dragster check out Project 540/E85 Engine in www.MoparMax.com.
![]() The only aluminum body panels are the right and left engine side panels. Constructed of one piece of aluminum it will simplify getting them on and off for routine maintenance. |
![]() S&W mounted two master cylinders for us. The one on the right of the photo is a hand-brake that will be used when we upgrade to the dual caliper brakes. There wasn't budget for them right now but it is something we want to add later and this way the chassis is built for it. This is one of those things you need to plan for so you don't have to fabricate after you get the chassis. |

Above left: This is the rod end fixture or tool we made. Use the bolts and the slot to get the length of the bar you are going to replace rod ends on, lock it in place and when you install the new ends you can get them back to the exact length in a matter of seconds. Eliminates the guesswork of measuring lengths when the rod end design might have changed a little bit.
Above: K&R also includes the best wiring schematic I have ever seen.
Large enough to mount on a wall and laminated for durability. Just like
a road map, follow the directions to a trouble-free wiring experience on your race car.
