Follow the money

Ref Burk's comment: "Just Wondering… Wouldn’t NHRA have served themselves and their fans and the racers better by paving the pit and parking area at their Gainesville facility instead of spending money on luxury suites and a new tower? When it rains hard at Gainesville there is no place to park the racers and fans except on dirt. Duh!"

How about 'cause it wouldn't make NHRA any "direct/instant" money. Paving would be a cost with no direct benefit. The suites do DIRECTLY make money. The tower... how about comfort for the "in" people.

Horseshoes and hand grenades

Good morning Jeff.

Just finished reading your current column, and when I got to the 9th paragraph of "Just Wondering", where you comment about when TV production companies will realize that the N/FCs and N/TFers are the 'hottest' ticket. Hell, I thought it was the "Nostalgia Eliminator" class... (Just Wondering) ;-)

It's all politics

Jeff, your notes about the HOF hit the nail on the head. It's about who you know, NOT what you've won or done in the sport. Clayton Harris's induction is long overdue! And don't get me started about Jeb Allen.

Time for a change

Burk, I usually agree with you but not this time. How many years have we heard the same air ratchets blasting away on ESPN's "Sounds of the Strip"? A very lame segment with no imagination. Yuk!
