Mr. Editor Agent: regarding the time change for the Carolina Nationals TV show, 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., while not quite "middle of the night," it sure as heck isn't prime time either. Now on that other coast, the one with movie stars, swimming pools, palm trees, wildfires, and earthquakes, it just might be considered prime time.
That is all. Carry on.

Kudos to SCEDA for adding S/SS Combo class! Fun is what racing is all about! I hope and pray that this class is very popular.

A short comment on the ADRL: if I want to watch SHORT course crashing, I'll go watch a SPRINT CAR race! Man, those guys tear up equipment.

It never fails, every time I see any coverage of an ADRL race by this website or your competitor, it's littered with "Record Crowds" or "Thousands turned away". I don't think I've once seen any mention of the 150,000 free tickets they get handed out for these races, nor have I heard about all the hassles such as twenty to thirty minute lines for restrooms and concessions.
Kenny Nowling may be right, the days of attracting fans to the dragstrip via purchasing a ticket must be over! If it ain't free, it must not be worth watching....

Do you have any information about the AHRA World Championship 1966? We are looking for a car that broke the record at Green Valley Raceway in SS/A. The name on the car was Larry Richerson. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

To Paul Page: I would have sent this to you a few years ago when the question of where drag racing got its name came up, but I figured someone must have told you. I was really surprised that none of you knew, including the Big Daddy.
Drag racing is named after the fad of kids in their hot rods, in the ‘50s and early ‘60s racing down a town's main DRAG. When cruising down the main DRAG one would often meet another hot rod while stopped at a light, and I don't have to tell you what happened when it turned green. When it became too dangerous, not crashing dangerous, but cop dangerous, they would meet on the main DRAG, a challenge would be made, and the where and when would be decided. Hope this helps, because it's not lore, it's the truth.
Best regards to you and all your colleagues who do such a fabulous job bringing us the formalized race down the MAIN DRAG!
