Shoulda happened

I have eight words: Four, Lanes, Charlotte, Force, Hight, Tony, Cruz, Live.

More on Indy

I was on the phone to spread the news about Funny Car semis as soon as I saw the pairings. At least John made it look interesting. I have no problem with what happened. Big picture is that Cruz had all year to accumulate enough points and he missed out by five points. Two more rounds anywhere and there would be nothing JFR could do. A few qualifying spots would have done the trick.

I was at Indy on Friday, sat through all the oil-downs, but was still impressed with how hard everybody worked to complete the day's racing. My son collected autographs in the pits and JFR drivers were the easiest to get.

No Schumacher, no Pedregons. We're already making plans for next year. Anybody complaining about the qualifying sessions must be new to the sport. Fuel cars blow up, that's just the way it is.

Yikes!

When it takes millions to field a fuel car, it is a business. Sponsors want to be in the show, to get the bang from their bucks. John did what he had to do; there is no rule you have to win.

But it could also be real; he had the bad lane and did wait until Robert left. Robert’s in and crybaby is out. As far as Tony goes, that lowlife should kiss the ground John walks on; without him he be working in some gas station in the barrio.

An army of one

A team should be one car and one dragster. NHRA is like watching WWE now. There should be no two-car teams in the same class.
