Certainly loved the latest from Chris Martin. Growing up in Long Beach, I certainly do remember many of those ads from Cal Worthington.
On a side note, it was cool to read the bit on Wilson Ford. Up till when we moved from SoCal in ‘79, my dad was the president of the Wilson Ford Drag Club. What a great time to be a kid out there.

I would love to see some Altered Wheelbase AFX cars. Injected on alky, though, no blowers or nitro.

"NOSTALGIA," yeah right, here we go again. Narrowed funny cars, long front ends, this is crap. I’m all for the safety, but you can have safety and keep the look.
You wanna talk about period correct and still look bitchin’, check out Don Danhof’ NOSTALGIA dragster, or Randy Walls’ funny car. Not like Powers’ Camaro that looks like it was squeezed out of a tube of toothpaste or big number man Jim Murphy with his BIG UGLY injector. I’ve looked through old pics from the 60s, and I still can’t find an injector like that.
People, NOSTALGIA... THAT ONE WORD SAYS IT ALL!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the repeated reference offered by Pro Stock owner/driver Allen Johnson... “I have confidence, I’m driving really good..."
I have no vendetta against Allen Johnson or Dodge etc, but if it weren't for HIS red lights and hole shot losses, he would have very little to show for his efforts this season. I'm just struck with his definition of driving really good (well).

I have been a drag racing fan for over 40 years and have been to the US for the Mile High Nationals twice (the last time being 2000), so I like to keep up with what's going on in the US. I really enjoy your no-bullshit commentary and agree that the new NHRA website is pathetic. It's just a corporate, PR channel and I have given up even looking at it now.
The people running the NHRA now are just deluded; it's a pity there couldn't be a bloodless coup.
It seems as though the sport as we know it no longer exists and it's just a business to them.
Also, why no 1000 ft records? Our top fuellers run 1320 ft here in Oz and top 320+ mph with no problem with insurance.
