True race fans are being left out

“Game show and even more John Force. Now is the time for change, or I’m betting more of the viewers of NHRA television shows will be making a change of their own.”

Jeff, let's face it racing is something you love to do, it was never about the watching, sitting in the stands waiting to be entertained, but one day many moons ago the scene changed.

Now racing in general seems to be about entertainment, marketing products to sell, sell, sell, just another business to hustle people.

We hardcore lovers of the real drag racing have become the minority in the eyes of the new hustlers that control the sport.

Wally Parks, Larry Carrier, Don Garlits, Sportsman racers, bracket racers, innovators, etc. have all had their day.

I'm not saying those still out there competing aren't just as hardcore, but the numbers of those still able to do it for the pure love of it are gone.... It's all about the money now.

What's the solution?

Stop complaining about TV entertainment shows disguised as racing, use your DVR to record and fast forward past the fluff, watch what little competition is available, then support the real drag racing by going to the tracks where folks still race because they love to race.

Jeff, when you came out to Bakersfield, you saw the real deal, hot rodders doing their thing. No TV needed, just folks enjoying being with like minded folks and having a ball, that's the core value of this sport.

Let NHRA and IHRA fail or see the light, ADRA will be the future model in my opinion of professional racing, while the run what ya' brung Bakersfield races will become the backbone of hardcore drag racing, just because it's more fun to do then watching fluff and commercialism.

I'm old school and that's just my thoughts anyway.... whatever will be will be!

A wake-up call

Jeff, just finished reading your Burk’s Blast column. The nail has been hit on the head! What a pathetic broadcast on Sunday. Looks like I won’t be buying a ticket to Englishtown when the "big show" comes to town. Wake up NHRA, pleeeeeeease!

More unanswered questions

Every now and then you make real sense. No story about the "Greek", or if you have to use JFR, why is Hight having so many problems? Also what is happening with Enders, and will a Ford ever make the show?
