Different combinations keep indexes the same

Jeff, the reason the indexes don't get changed is a lot of the New Rules and parts OK'd by the head of NHRA tech help some cars but not all. Did you ever think that a big block Chevy rod would be ok in a 428 Ford? It is. How about a single four barrel 428 Shelby that was never made? It’s now legal. We have $800.00 lifters that are ok now and the list goes on. All these new parts don't help every combo, and my guess is NHRA has given some thought to what might happen if they force some combos out because of this. It is far from stock!

Re; Spiro Pappas run

Don’t you think it would be a good idea to remind readers that the Lynch record of 6.49 was done at 3050+ pounds (Outlaw 10.5 form) and that compared to the (Extreme 10.5) weight of 2350, this Pro Stock needs to be running in the 5's to be comparable? 700 pounds is 700 pounds. Come on man, I read this column all the time but the details make the difference and they need to be known to all. Lynch has been 4.20 at 3050#. The game is far from over.

Just say no to fee increase

NHRA doubled their chassis sticker from 75 to 150 bucks last week. In the fall the inspectors asked to raise their fee from 50 to 60 bucks. NHRA said no as it would be too hard on the sportsman racers.

About a third of the group that were to be inspected cancelled and got IHRA tags.
