Quoted from Hot Rod Magazine: "At press time, it was still an unsubstantiated rumor, but we know that NHRA is seriously considering shortening the quarter-mile by 320 feet to reduce top speeds - now that Fuelers are running over 260 mph." -- November, 1984 issue!

Well, it's Monday morning and my eyes are still stinging. What a great March Meet. I have been going since the mid 70’s and I think this was the best yet. My girlfriend and I hung out with the Butch Blair and his lovely wife Terry (by the way, Terry will be running a duel rear wheel top fuel dragster in the sand this year, if ya get a chance, go watch ‘em, they want to be the first ones in the two-second zone).
I hooked up with and old friend (Gorden Keck) who used to own and drive a top fueler in the 60's, we had a great time taking about the past and telling each other how old we looked. Also ran into John Capps (Ron Capps’ father), he had a cool NAPA hat on and was trying to find some people he brought to the races, as you know the place was packed, John is one of the funniest guys I have ever met.
I have taken my girlfriend to Pomona, Sonoma, and Vegas for the Nationals several times and she said this weekend was the most fun she ever had at the races (and she really likes ‘em all).
So listen up folks, the March Meet and the Hot Rod reunion at Famoso, is FUN FUN FUN!
We will sure be back next year.
