I am in total agreement with you in regard to buy-backs in bracket racing. I have been racing a long time. I can remember when there were no buy-backs or delay boxes and there were large car counts. I hear it all the time from many racers about this problem. Some would be willing to pay more entry fees to stop buy-backs. You can lose first AND second round and still be in competition if you are willing to pay, this is wrong. I know the track makes good money with buy-backs, but it is hurting the sport. I totally agree with having a second chance or gamblers race.
In my 35 years in drag racing I have bought back three times and I won't do it again. I do enter multiple classes however, (pro/footbrake) and, I would participate in a second-chance race.
I think bracket racing is a great sport and let's keep it FUN.

Re: The last Chevy big block
"Currently the plant's main engine line is the L850."
What is the L850? You would think that the article would identify it by size, etc.

In your article about Quaker City Raceway switching to the AHRA sanctioning, you say the track has had several owners. Actually Dan Swindell, who presently owns the track, is only the second owner after he bought it from Dick Mossey in 1999.

The indoor drag races were not at McCormick Place in Chicago. That building was not even built yet. The building was called the Chicago Amphitheater. The races were covered, with photos, in Drag News.
