QUALITY IS JOB NUMBER ONE

Ok people, let's think about this. As much as it pains me to say, Schumacher's dad was right when he said in his earlier interview with DRO, "we're in the entertainment business." Let's go back to six to ten quality national events and start match racing again. So what if IHRA wants to "book in" a show? Once again, "we're in the entertainment business." Think about more regional shows in closer-to-home venues that more people can afford to attend. The nostalgia guys are proving this every week! More power to them. Fewer major events could mean reduced costs for hopefully more teams. Match race fees and tee shirt sales produce more money for the teams.

JUST WONDERING....

FLATTER HIM SOME MORE

Burk, you are the best expert and writer on Planet Earth about the history of drag racing.... With that being said, why is no one discussing the re-birth of the AHRA? The website looks mighty good, and with the IHRA gone, these guys could be the real deal for sportsman racers, and a pro show in certain markets.

Animal Jim and I have discussed it, and he tells me his guys say it is a hoax (they work for the NHRA).... Could we see AHRA back in tracks like St. Louis, Tulsa, Springfield, San Antonio, and Temple, etc? What’re your thoughts?

GARLITS KNOWS DICK

Burkster, as usual, another great editorial. But I saw no mention of Garlit's Hall of Fame selections for this year.

Dick Harrell, probably the sport's best ambassador in the early years was finally selected. In addition to being AHRA's Driver of the Year and Driver of the Decade, he was truly a great man! He never bad mouthed a competitor, he always showed up in clean uniforms with spotless equipment, and he was a great spokesman for his sponsors.

I always considered myself lucky to have been one of his friends. All of us who knew him still miss him today.
