When NHRA was running the WCS series featuring all classes at every WCS event we had the cross section of the essence of drag racing -- as it should be.
Now with the division of “Pro Racing" being the only show in town, all the meat and potato drag racers are forgotten. NHRA makes no distinction when it comes to charging entry fees and strict adherence to rules and regulations - as it should be – (but) come Sunday, they don't know anyone but the Pros, who, in my opinion are no longer racers but paid corporate sponsored shills.
Talented? You bet. Racers? Maybe. Convey the essence of drag racing? Nope. They got the talk, they know the lingo, but when I hear a contemporary T/F driver sittin’ in a FED nostalgia AA/FD for a photo-op say, “EWwww, I would never drive one of these” that cuts it for me.
Last “pro” race attended cost $100.00 for two for qualifying on Saturday; to get to the grandstands to actually SEE the cars qualify, another $30.00 each please. We left, never having seen a car run; we got to hear a couple for the $100.00 plus 45 minutes.
Sweeeet.
And actually, Monty Python would have said, “Iiii fahht in your general direction.”

To Jeff Burk: your two-day event weekend isn't a bad idea, but most people work on Friday, thus no or small audience. The idea would work better on Sat. and Sun.
Keep up the good work.
