Our new motto: Skepticism is the first step towards the truth

Jeff, keep doing what you do best, i.e. speaking up when it is obvious "the emperor has no clothes". There are too many shills and Pollyannas in the world today - especially in the marketing and publicity departments of large organizations. Just because one points out the negatives of an event or situation doesn't mean one doesn't enjoy or appreciate the event. Constructive criticism generates improvement. Accolades without criticism results in continuation of the status quo and ultimately stagnation.

I find you columns to be insightful and thought-provoking. Keep up the good work.

Don’t go changing…

Jeff, don't ever change! I think you are great just the way you are, the way you see ‘em, and the way you write about ‘em.

‘Pinks’ are in the black, for sure

Burkster... I would like to hear your thoughts on the Pinks: All Out series of "produced for TV" events. Looks like they have a hit on their hands with excellent car turnout, commercial midway and thousands of fans.

Something smells, and it’s not the nitro

If it wasn't for the smell of nitro, I would have given up on the commercial enterprise of drag racing a while ago. It's becoming more boring by the day. Where's the FUN gone? We have more HAWKERS than side show alley and don't even start on quality of food at race meetings. A frenzy of RACE calling trying to incite the bloodlust of race goers with little or no knowledge how much effort race teams put in during a season.

What are they waiting for?

I'm wondering when the NHRA is going to stop killing drivers with its immovable, impenetrable concrete walls? Now a Super Gas racer has been killed due to hitting a concrete wall.

I don't want to hear that "It's a dangerous sport" crap anymore. NASCAR finally caught on. NHRA wants to emulate NASCAR, so do it! Or are the track owners just too cheap?

On rev limits and free tickets

I think the rev limiter was the reason for the fuel cars to explode in the last 320 feet. It’s obvious if you are not against the limiter the engine will live. So let’s go back to 1320 without the limiter but with some other inexpensive way to slow them down.

Also, The LODRS needs a smart person to duplicate the ADRL’s successes. The platform is there, we just need somebody to grab a hold of it and make it work as a successful drag racing event regarding fan attendance. I presently attend far more points meets than national events and I believe others would attend especially if the ticket price was "0". It’s just good racing!

Reminder about 2 of the 31 different series we cover

I must say that I’m surprised that you didn't mention the NMRA or NMCA.  Both of those sanctions have been alive and well for years. Not to mention they cater to the weekend racer, which is something that none of the other sanctions you mentioned can do.

Fantastic write up and great photos! Wish I had been there but this was close. Keep up the good work and maybe I'll see you in Phoenix.

Are we blue?

Just curious why there is a MaxChebby and MoparMax but no MaxFord. Yeah, I know, take your cheap shot... but seriously, why?

Jim Miller
Canada, eh?

Actually, it’s on the agenda, but right now our production staff is stretched pretty thin and we want to make sure any new product meets the quality standards we have for DRO, MaxChevy and MoparMax. Once the economy settles down, we hope to make the Blue Oval guys happy and gear up for next year if we can get enough advertisers to support it. And hey, if you want to make it happen sooner, send money!
