FUN AT THE DRAGS
Amen to that story "fun". I live here in Bako and have never been to a top level NHRA or IHRA event. I get what I want to see right here in my backyard. I take my kids out of school on Friday and to the track we go. It's cheap, not as crowded, and we can access the racers a lot easier because they’re out with the crowd having a blast themselves.
I refuse to go to any race (NASCAR or NHRA) where I have to fight to get to a seat, get to a $6.00 hot dog, or to the pisser. Give me a front engine fueler and I'm good to go.

DON’T FORGET DICK HARRELL FOR THE HOF
Jeff, I applaud your comments about Garlits' Hall of Fame (the Real one). However, the selection committee has ignored the first and most famous, Chevy funny car shoe of all time, Dick Harrell, simply because he ran mostly AHRA tracks. Fans still remember Dick and what a showman and sportsman he was. Could you possibly recommend putting his name on your list?
Thanks

ANOTHER VOTE FOR HARRELL
Jeff, You have gone right past the man with great accomplishments who has been left out on political grounds.
Dick Harrell was a funny car racing pioneer. He was one of the first to be professional in the marketing of a drag racing team. He was outstanding in his development and treatment of sponsors. His 18 wheeler rig was the first used by a funny car racer.
Harrell was involved in producing Supercars for street use.
The ONLY reason he is not in Garlits' Hall is that Dick Harrell ran almost exclusively with AHRA. He was loyal to Jim Tice and only at the end of his career did he see that NHRA racing would get him BIG INK. Had he lived, he would have raced with Wally much more.
The fact that he was with AHRA is keeping him from his just place.

PERSONA NON GRATA?
Burkster, I agree with you thoughts on the selection process for the NHRA hall of fame, however, the induction of Dave Wallace definitely indicates some hope. My congrats to all involved and maybe, just maybe, the Goodguys will allow Dave to attend their events again.

‘THE VOICE’ SPEAKS
The selection process MUST be evolving to a wider field. After all they inducted me and my record with NHRA is - to say the least - abysmal. In 46 years of announcing virtually every major meet extant, I worked - as part of their team - exactly four NHRA Nationals events. And Bernie Partridge personally invested himself to make that happen.
Certainly people like Bill Kuhlman, Mike Thermos and Clayton Harris should be inducted. Their accomplishments are too outstanding to be denied. I believe in time that will happen.
