How sporting!

Ok. I'm anxiously awaiting on the Sportsman-only photo spread of the NHRA World Finals. Enough of this Pro coverage already. Let's see some real cars.

Thanks for the coverage of the NHRA Dutch Class sportsman race.

Goodbye, Gary

Adieu, Gary Scelzi. Please send ESPN2 an occasional "Scelzi Sez" so we can have a laugh. You're a great driver, a great spokesman for drag racing and a real hoot at times. You will be missed by many. Good luck.

I-L-L-I-N-I!

I think Tim Wilkerson is one of the best racer/ambassador/personality in the sport of Drag Racing (Sorry John), and I am glad to say he is from the state of Illinois.

What is a team for, after all?

I agree with Jon Mikola on the JF team orders thing, but I think there is also a time when a teammate HAS to take a dive. What I mean is, in Hines Racing's case it would have been stupid for Andrew to take the championship away from Kreawic. Now up until the situation is black & white it should be all bets off, beat me if you can. There are a lot of great teams out there that run teammates harder then they run other people. Most of them are Pro Stock teams.

Thanks.

Just can’t get over it

December 2, 1972: The day that southern California drag racing lost its heart and soul. This date, the day that the greatest drag strip ever had its last race. The track located at 223rd & Alameda, the famous Lions Drag Strip.

For those of you who never had the chance to go to Lions, you will never understand the feelings and emotions that went with that track. For those who did, this date always brings out memories. Jon Lundberg said it best in the Lions DVD, it was Camelot that can never be repeated. How true. I had the privilege of seeing over 100 shows at Lions. Dad and I went weekly … what a quality time with my father.

Red River clarification

Red River Raceway in Shreveport, LA, was operating under NHRA sanction at the time of its closure. NHRA ran a Div. 4 race there. It had not been IHRA for several years. It is a nice track. I enjoyed going to the IHRA national event there.
