TAKE A STEP BACK AND GET SOME PERSPECTIVE

Way to be Burkster... We ALL need to kick back at times to reflect on the other things in life, i.e.: Good T, a movie, a time away from ALL news, as most is bad and we can't do a whole heck of a lot about it any-who. I think if we would all do this on a given weekend we would have a better world to live in. So as this is a Friday I'm going to take your cue and try for the same results, except maybe for the Brainerd telecast on ESPN2 (cold turkey is tough).

Oh, almost forgot... A Big HURRAH! for Zizzo, Settles and Wyatt....

NO ‘GIZMOS’ IN PRO STOCK

I just read Chris Finney's letter waxing nostalgic about the good ole days of Pro Stock. He laments that PS is no longer as interesting to watch. I agree with part of his statement...import cars should be allowed into the class, provided that the rules don't have to be changed to allow them. Chris then also wants to allow all the electronic gizmos in PS, including traction control. He sure does want it both ways. After praising the great drivers of old, Ronnie Sox, Dyno Don, and Don Carlton he wants to take the dang driver more or less completely out of the car.

Cars with all those electronics only need a "steerer," not a driver. It would also take chassis setup more out of the equation. In short, it would make PS even LESS interesting. He also laments that the PS ranks are an "exclusive 200-mph country club for those who can afford the hefty greens fees." Well, the cars aren't going to get any less expensive and adding all his pet electronics would even further add to the cost of racing. It might make that country club even more exclusive.
I'd like to see only a couple of major changes in PS. First, get rid of carbs altogether and require fuel injection (as these car's stock counterparts would have). Secondly, get rid of the dang hood scoops. Flat, stock type hoods would be all that's allowed.

LOOKING FOR INSTANT SUCCESS, JOE?

I was just wondering if Erica Enders has realized what a big mistake she has made by switching teams? She went from a car that could've won and should've won to one that can't qualify. Big mistake!

HAPPY ABOUT ‘GRUMPY’

Fantastic article(s) on Bill Jenkins...well done! A true racing legend. My greatest memory, was when he drilled the Sox & Martin car at the AHRA National Challenge, Labor Day 1972...even Grump smiled that night, when he won 35,000 bucks. That was in ‘72...real money!

Thanks again.
