IHRA IS LOOKING BETTER AND BETTER

I think that if NHRA does decided to squeeze the '07 schedule together, Evan Knoll will and should pull his sponsored teams over to the IHRA.  NHRA has absolutely no right to monopolize the drag racing schedule.  I am a member of NHRA and IHRA, I am also a sportsman drag racer. I race more IHRA than NHRA. I think NHRA's rules of "grading points" is a bunch of BS.

If NHRA follows through with the squeezing of the '07 schedule they will lose a lot of professional racers and Fans.

WOULD THEY BE SO PETTY?

Does anybody seriously think the reason NHRA is considering schedule changes is to "thwart" the IHRA F/C?

PRO MOD-IFICATIONS?

OK Jeff, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Blown and nitrous cars are not equal, and running qualifying at night stacks the deck in the blown car’s favor. I do agree with your suggestion of splitting up the field and letting eight blown and eight nitrous cars in the show.

I remember the NHRA Pro Comp class from the 1970’s and early ‘80s and how the dragsters were killing the Funny Cars. The NHRA played with the weight breaks to even

the show, but the dragsters always seem to make up for the new rules. Then the NHRA split the class and ran the winner of each category against each other on Sunday. That didn’t work for sh*t either but it was a wild show.

Looking at the latest IHRA race from Milan and using your suggestion, the blown cars of Quain Stott and Kerunsky would have not made the show and the nitrous cars of Vick and Davis Roemer would be in their place. The bump would have gone from a 6.205 to a 6.207 so no big deal as far as the bump goes.

I hope the IHRA gives your idea a chance but I would not count on it. As far as the NHRA, it’s a blown show with the nitrous cars getting a bone every now and then.
