TOO MANY RACES, SAME OLD FACES
Concerning your Just Wondering column, I agree there are way too many races on the NHRA calendar. So many in fact, that they have become commonplace, ho-hum, and not special. If I miss one, so what? Who cares? There will be another one next week.
Being the geezer that I am, I can recall when NHRA Championship Drag Races were special. Something that happened rarely. And, was something to look forward to, and didn't happen every weekend. I hate to use the word 'boring' because drag racing isn't, but boring in the sense that we see the same teams, same racers, same classes, same winners, same looking tracks every week. If I miss a race, which happens more often during the summer, I can always catch the next race on TV. With twenty something races, I can afford to miss some.
Unlike football, baseball, etc, there is no final championship event. No Super Bowl, so to speak. There is no tension or build up. Yeah, there are championship points, but there is something missing. Maybe because I pretty much know who's gonna win, and who isn't.
The ones with the most $ win. Nothing wrong with consistent performance, but boring nonetheless.
Outside of Clay, who knows who's gonna win on the IHRA side. There are fewer shoe-ins, and more of an opportunity for a non-repeat winner. My interest is with the IHRA as things are more wide open, and almost anybody has a shot at winning. And there isn't a race every weekend. The events are 'special' and something to look forward to. And with fewer races, each race is more important as it concerns the championship points.
I really enjoy the site. And I appreciate your point of view. One final note, do you ever think SS/DR will ever resurface? By far, the best magazine/paper ever. I miss reading it.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION?
There are quite a few advertisers in National Dragster that only list a phone number or an e-mail address. The reader has no idea where the company is located. Location might be a consideration where shipping charges or picking something up in person is concerned.
Kinda like the Troy Buff, Volvo deal.

NO WHEELSTANDERS FOR NHRA
Another great column from the Boss! Interesting about the jet cars and the wheelstanders. Scott Kennedy, of the "Controlled Insanity" wheelstander fame, has booked lots of races for the IHRA, none for the NHRA because Graham Light hates these cars! Cannot get a booking if you try with the NHRA.

NO WHINING
Jeff, you hit it right on the button when you talked about (whining) pro and not so pro racers (whining) about the tree. I'm a sportsman dragbike racer and as far as I'm concerned it's up to me to learn how to react to the tree if I want to race.
