AND A 'HELIO CASTRONEVES' TO YOU

You are dead right about Paul Page! It has gotten to the point of embarrassment for me to listen to this guy. You would think that after years of pronouncing all the barely pronounceable names in Indy car he could use the same "Hooked on Phonics" classes on the quarter-mile crowd! Mike Dunn needs to throw him out of the tower!

Could Paul Page not like drag racing because: A. Erica Enders name was difficult for him to

pronounce? B. Perhaps, and with our vast knowledge of broadcasting a drag race for TV. We all know how easy it is for an accomplished motorsports broadcaster to learn and speak in our vernacular in a short period of time, let alone, learn the pro classes, and the alky racers too. Could it be, he is over-whelmed? Here's a guy that does his job, and he is criticized every week for doing his job and without a correction. I recall that Marty too was attacked by us, just after the WinterNats...we said the same things How many shows until he got better at it?

HE'S 'MAJOR LEAGUE' TO US

It may be time to reach down into the minor leagues of motorsports television and pick Bret Kepner out of the mud bogs...or not.

A lil' Grecian Formula and some Slimfast, and you get someone who knows the subject, can pronounce Scelzi, and MIGHT be able to match Force word for word.

STANDING ALONE?

Jeff, shut up! The NHRA has a great thing going with the Sport Compact series and I am shocked that you would make that comment. Think about this: the sport compact series is where one of the most popular Pro Stock drivers got his start, that driver is Shaun Carlson.

I for one support the sport compact series and don't think that they should do anything but give it more effort. If NHRA cuts the sport compact series I for one will not go to their races anymore.

¿EL GRUPO VA A MONTEREY?

I read that NHRA is considering holding a national event in Monterey, Mexico and just wondered, have any of you ever been to Monterey, Mexico? If you've never been there or raced there you will certainly enjoy the uphill tow, the nice warm humid weather and the altitude. I'm kidding -- the air is so thin the birds walk instead of fly, at least the ones that didn't have a heat stroke. They might want to rethink that idea. On the plus side, Monterey is the seventh wealthiest city in the world and is a center for concrete production, so the bite should be good. No air and lots of traction.

DE UN BEBEDOR DEL CAFÉ

That was funny, Burk! I about snarfed my coffee on the damn 'puter laughing at that last sentence about coming back from Mexico.

REAR ENGINE ADDITION

Notably missing from the rear engine Funny Car article was the 4-wd car that nearly cost Gary Gabelich his life at OCIR.
