THE FUTURE OF 10.5 CARS
I hope it is not just a matter of time before this class is also ruined by "progress." Wind tunnels, throttle stops, wheelie bars and tube chassis or low center of gravity cars have made racing in a lot of classes boring. Maybe the powers that be will keep (Ian Tocher's) article posted to remind them that if you keep racing entertaining, racers and spectators will keep coming.

MARK, WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN READING FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS?
First off, what a breath of fresh air to read unbiased opinions not having to follow the "party line." This is my first chance to read you guys, and I love it! I attended the CSK Nat'ls Friday and Saturday, and agree on several points. It WAS the largest crowd I have seen on a Friday and I have been going to this meet since 1990. Also the lighting was the worst I have seen. It never has been that good to begin with, but this year's situation looked frightening. There was a whole section of lights NOT ON at mid track in the right lane...the worst spot not to have them. I have always hoped to see an improvement in the lighting system each year, but each time I see the same old system...think they were stripped from Lions Dragstrip after "the last drag race"...surprised the NHRA hasn't leaned on Charlie to get in step or at least bring in those temporary units that make it look like 3:00 p.m. Cheap? I think so!
Again, I love what I have seen of your publication, and will definitely come back for more. Thanks!

QUESTIONING A POLL QUESTION
What keeps us watching the races? Come on guys, are you serious with this poll? If the majority of readers vote explosions, crashes and pedal-fests (I do enjoy a pedal-fest every once and a while - nobody hurt or cars damaged) then they need to go to NASCAR and leave us drag racing lovers alone. I think all of us like to hear from the racers in interviews and it should be obvious we like close racing instead of one lane races. How can a true drag racing lover answer the question within your limited choices?
I would like to think someone out there in the NHRA, IHRA and other sanctioning bodies is actually reading and taking note of the polls. I hope they are. This one is pretty broad and to pick one choice is pretty hard, especially when there are no other choices such as: watching the various classes, your favorite racer/car, the noise, spectacle, because I've watched it all my life, it's better than the re-runs on the other channels, I'd watch two turtles race...and on and on. What's the one thing out of your three choices you picked? Close racing I'd bet. That's how we all should vote isn't it?
I love this site, keep up the good work and keep 'em honest.

Brad, the purpose of this survey was to try and determine just how many people in the stands are well informed, real drag racing fans and how many are just there for the "entertainment" and not really hard core drag racing fans with in-depth knowledge of the sport. We're afraid that many of the folks that are attending drag racing national events these days are like those that attend NASCAR -- for them it's just entertainment like going to a rock concert, hockey game or a movie.
