ANOTHER HOF NOMINEE

I read your list of "should be's" regarding the Hall Of Fame. Dick Harrell stands head and shoulders above many you mentioned. His racing accomplishments, his pioneering of the 18-wheel billboard transporter, his early mastery of marketing and sponsor relations all make him a logical choice.

The fact that he raced almost exclusively in AHRA is what keeps him out. No NHRA, no importance is the common attitude today. Those I have met who raced with and did business with Harrell all talk about a great person, businessman and racer. Oh well, maybe after Chuck Etchells.....

A FAN LETTER FROM THE ANTIPODES

Loved the 4-part run of "Famers." Since I grew up in SoCal during the '50s and '60s I lived those times and events you wrote about. (Being born in '44.)

Having been reunited with my high school sweetheart from '62 in 2001 and now living in Australia with her and all her previous grown children and grandchildren, instant family, I miss drag racing so much. Your site along with many more do help me when I need a fix.

Keep up the GREAT work that you and your team are doing.

BIGGER AND BETTER

Ian, thank you very much for including our car and information in your Feb. 8th edition. We really appreciate any and all ink we can get. We have only been at it for the past two years but we seem to be making positive impressions wherever we go.

With people like you out there pushing the nostalgia movement things can only get bigger.

Again, thanks.

ABOUT A COUPLE OF THINGS

First off, traction control. Well it would certainly stop smoke fest/one lane tracks/etc., however, I think it would turn into Pro Stock-like side by side racing which would get boring pretty quick. Think about it, NO loss of traction runs at an event by top fool or funny car? Yawn!

Second, imports in Pro Stock: if they want to build a 500-inch V8 two valve push rod engine, fine; if they want turbo/blah blah blah, then no.

Also, on that note, people have said that the imports are not bringing in the fans/cars they expected so they should cancel the import series and combine them with another class which will increase everybody's exposure. What a load of crap! If they don't draw cars, why would they be a benefit to Pro Stock or any other class then? Are all the rappers going to put on uniforms and act civil because of a class change? All the kids who don't watch the fart cans race and opt instead for the stereo contest somehow "see the light" and start watching V8 race cars which they also have no interest in? It's so stupid I could see NHRA doing it!

More to follow....
