MAYBE IT JUST FEELS THAT WAY
Just wondering. Why do they call it getting released when someone loses their ride or crew position in Drag Racing? Here in the real world they still call it getting fired. Getting released is getting out of jail.

KEEPING SAFE ON THE LINE
Ian, thank you for that article. My father is one of those guys waiting to get hurt out there. He's always standing in front of the car during a burnout, basically doing everything you just described.
I'm getting my alcohol dragster license this winter, and I can promise you he will read your article before he gives me any "elaborate" hand gestures. I couldn't agree with you more; if I can't do the burnout in the groove and get the thing backed up, the run is as good as lost anyway.
Anyway, great article. Have a good holiday season.

NOTHING MOVING IN BANNING
In answer to the question about earth movers in Banning. No, I have been out there and have co-workers that live out there on the lookout.

SEASON’S GREETINGS
Well, this is the time of year when we should give thanks. So to all those racers, officials, sponsors, to all those in the background, a great Big Thanks for 2006 & let's hope they are all there in 2007.
To my fellow Dragracingonliners a very merry Christmas & New Year. Bring on the New Season. To the crew at Dragracingonline, Thanks & see you all again in 2007.
Regards.
