CHECKING THE NHRA RETURN
It’s amazing the amount of money involved and the sportman races have such piddly purses. I’ve been a member for 23 years.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY – ESPECIALLY TFD RACERS
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to all the staff at DRO and all the readers.
I wanted to comment on one of the items that Whit Bazemore brought up in his DRO interview, the issue of TFD chassis breakage. I must agree with Mr. Bazemore when he
says that TFD is as dangerous now as it's ever been. We came ‘that’ close to losing Cory Mac. Other cars also had broken tubing.

Probably the quickest way to fix this would be to limit the number of runs a chassis can run before it must be scrapped...not sold, scrapped. Selling a chassis simply transfers an accident waiting to happen to another driver. However, that would add considerably to the cost of racing. Is requiring extra welding or reinforcing the answer? Maybe, but exactly which tubes are breaking? Is it in the same area of the car each time? Maybe just the rear end of the car is suffering fatigue. Or is it all over the car?
I'm sure that NHRA and, hopefully, IHRA are looking into this. I, of course, don't know the answer. But until there's a fix, TFD jockeys are going to be in more danger than they should be.
