KIND OF RIGHT
Deja vu is what the power of money does to those that are susceptible to its tantalizing and that’s all of us. Let's face it, this is a government-supported team. It's about the biggest profile you have in our sport and the governing body is not going buck Washington. This was a slap on the wrist to this team. Had it been anyone else they would have been sent to IHRA for 5 years to serve sentence.
What's right? Maybe the rotation of start line staff for every meet? Or showing respect for these people who do a fine job 364 days a year or maybe it's time for a woman to take the reins in our sport. That really would sort the men from boys.

‘LEVEL PLAYING FIELD’ MEANS SAME
RULES FOR ALL
Good job Burk, NHRA needs to wakeup. What is good for one should be good for all.
Keep up the good work.

WHAT WOULD WALLY DO?
We all owe letters of support to the "Iceman" for his professionalism. Let's all see "7 second love affair" and let NHRA know of our disapproval. If Wally had been at the line, things would have been much different.

HE’S OUTTA THERE
I agree as usual with you Burk. Here is NHRA again trying to model themselves again after NASCAR with this new joke of a points system next year and this happens. What does NASCAR do when a driver ignores the Black Flag...he is disqualified, period.

LOSING INTEREST
Regarding “It was Déjà vu all over again”. Good article Jeff, I agree 100%. This is just one of several reasons I’m losing interest in drag racing and the NHRA in particular.

Well written criticism of Tony Schumacher, Alan Johnson, and Rick Stewart on the starting line incident in Pomona. Wanna bet that if Buster were up there, he wouldn't have walked over to that car himself and shut off the fuel pump? The other incident like this was Lee Shepherd at Englishtown where he was leaking some fluid and he ignored Buster's hand signals to kill the motor.
What really hosed me off about the Schumacher incident was his comment, "I'm just the driver. Alan is the boss." Total BS. What does he think, if he killed the motor that Alan would have him fired?

FIX IT!
Kudos to Burkster. That was one of the most ludicrous shows of favoritism I have ever seen! The fact that A DRIVER refuses to do what the starter tells him to do is totally wrong and should have been dealt with on the spot! Above and beyond the refusal, is the SAFETY FACTOR! This should never have happened and somebody from NHRA should step forward and address it and CORRECT it!
Thanks for the venting space.
