ROUNDY-ROUND RANT
Why is it that whenever those circle jerk NASCAR guys are on TV they seem to have hardly any commercials but yet when NHRA is on it seems like every five minutes there’s a commercial? Well, all I can say is at least NHRA drivers go straight to the finish line unlike the circle jerk guys who have to drive in a circle for hundreds of miles looking for the finish line.

HE FOUND A BARGAIN
I reached my $$ limit with ticket prices for NHRA at the Texas Motorplex this year. I didn't go. After spending Friday (Oct. 13) at Kennedale watching Pro Mods, who needs NHRA anyway?

A BIT OF INFORMATION AND A COUPLE OF OPINIONS
Two things - a video of the Pontiac shown on your cover in the wheelstand contest at Byron is available on Youtube. Just type in "wheel stand contest" -- with the space between wheel and stand -- and the video comes up as the first choice.
Also, I realize Evan Knoll has rescued a lot of teams and he can't be seeing return on his investment, but his sponsorships camouflage how weak the sponsorship situation is for
the NHRA. When one company is propping up so many teams, it is not a good thing.
I am a purist to the bone, but NASCAR is so sponsor friendly (i.e.: assuring almost every sponsored car gets in the field) whereas in the NHRA a big bucks car may miss out on Sunday. What if the NHRA changed to an eight-car eliminations, but ran the last round of qualifying at 11 AM on Sunday? Every car on the site would get to run in front of the crowd, even if they were not going to qualify. (It would be even better to follow up a Sunday qualifier with a 16-car show, but that might be logistically impossible.) There has got to be a way to make the sport more sponsor friendly without simultaneously ruining the sport (which I think NASCAR could end up doing.)
And on a separate but related topic, I agree with you about NHRA's TV coverage being too long and boring...it should be a fast-paced 60 or 90 minute show, not a boring interview-fest.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
So, how many cars are sponsored by Torco Skull Shine? Three TF, one FC, a few PS and I have lost count of the AFD and BBFC numbers. Good for the racers! But, should Knoll encounter financial problems, like one Urban C of diamond drilling fame, or John C of JCIT fame, it would really hit entry lists!
