NHRA IS TPAC?

Regarding your story that NHRA (The Pompous Ass Club) does not want competition from lil’ old IHRA. Do they fear people will go to drag races for the fun of the sport, regardless if the stars are not household names? Is that why they want to have the tracks of the IHRA for themselves? We all know that they do not care about the fans or the racers.

TV OR NOT TV?

Your point about the NHRA telecasts is a good one. I think ESPN could shorten their current 3-hour Sunday shows to 2 hours or even an hour and a half. I hardly ever make through the entire show. I'm usually ready to change the channel after 2 hours.

I fondly remember the one hour syndicated Diamond P shows with Dave McClelland and Steve Evans. At least Mike Dunn doesn't murder the English language as much as he used to.

HEY, JOE, NHRA HAS TO PAY FOR THAT TV TIME, YOU KNOW

Re: NHRA Coverage. NO - it should be longer! My beef is that they don't give enough coverage to the lower- or non-qualified teams during qualifying coverage. They havesponsors to please and need the national coverage worse than the bigger-funded teams...especially in Pro-Stock.

By the time they get to it, they are showing a set field - not much fun if you're rooting for an underdog.

By the way, most of us know there really is no AHRA. Too bad our track owner was such a deadbeat. It would be nice to have upgrades done that would attract some quality teams and sanctioning bodies here. Even for testing...

Thanks for listening!

NO FAN OF JAPANESE CARS?

Don't want to see any Toyota or Hondas in Pro Stock. Face it Toyota has left every other race body it was in with a bitter taste in everyone’s mouth. We don't need that. Watch NASCAR... They will get theirs.

SAFETY SHOULD BE PRIORITY FRO THE BEGINNING

Head & neck restraints should be mandatory. I have 2 boys in Jr drag racing, one is 10 and the other is 12. I have them in the R-3, which is the same ones that all the Force drivers wear, and our kids are limited to 85 mph. They like it a lot better than the foam neck collar. As a parent I think you cannot be too safe. We take safety as a #1 priority.
