TOO MUCH FORCE, REPEATS

Jeff, RE: ESPN/NHRA broadcasts. Four hours is too long for a telecast of final eliminations.  Recommend shortening the telecast to two hours and eliminate two hours worth of minutia and duplicate/triplicate/quadruple re-runs of crashes and Force family interviews.

Two hours is plenty of time to cover final eliminations.  Two hours should also work well for qualifying coverage.

You and your other columnists please keep the good information flow coming.

HOW BAD IZZIT?

So bad that I'm considering dropping Dish Network, which I ordered many years ago specifically for NHRA coverage.  When I get the monthly bill, I think back to how many events I watched that month.

Mostly, the answer is ZERO.

Mostly, it's the embarrassing commentary that ran me off (with assists from the other condescending elements that you mention).
Listening to Jon Lundberg's stories and commentary for three days at the York Reunion reminded me just how far announcing has fallen since the glory days of Thunder Lungs.

Remember OCIR, when (Darr) and I were wishing for regular national TV coverage of drag races?  What were we thinking?

Thanks for doing the article on our "PIGFISH" altered powered by a Billy Leverentz-built ODDY’S engine. It is much appreciated. The whole crew was very pleased.

A JOB OPPORTUNITY?

I must agree with Bruce Eisel regarding Ashley Force and her ability to handle the F/C. Her attempt to pedal the car in Seattle resulted in terrible consequences and thankfully she was not injured. BTW, the media coverage of this significant event was next to nothing, nor have I seen any expert opinions regarding her expertise or lack thereof with the car.

I like Ashley and applaud her bravery and progress, but my heart is in my throat every time she launches the car. I would like to see her get a little more non -ace seasoning. I always get the impression that she is way behind the car. Maybe John could bring in a "coach," such as an inactive or retired driver to work with her the rest of the season. This certainly is not meant as a dig at Ashley by any means. I’m just concerned with her safety.

Sounds like the kind of drag racing-oriented journalist you might hold up as a role model would be Shav Glick.
