SIX TIRES ARE BETTER THAN FOUR

Fuel classes tire safety? Crazy idea? Run duals.
Two tires per side, each half as wide as now. Being narrower, much less chance for failure & all that carnage. Plus less shake. Much more manageable & safe.

TAKING THE FUN OUT OF IT
Again; quote: Just Wondering: Why someone hasn’t started a real heads-up (injected small-blocks, direct drive, nitro, motor in front) Jr. Fueler circuit? Now that was real working-man, affordable fuel racing. Unquote...
Heh, heh, under the heading of "Be Careful What You Wish For"... NHRA is announcing a "Nostalgia Series", including A Fuel, Junior Fuel A and Jr. Fuel B... plus AA/Gas... But it's gonna be a "Series" with points...
There goes the neighborhood! And the budget!

THERE ARE GOODGUYS IN THE MIDWEST
Goodguys IS bringing professional nostalgia shows to the Midwest. Although not at Cordova, St. Louis or Tulsa. Goodguys will have three full on nostalgia drag races in 2008 at Indy - June 6-8, Norwalk - September 5-7 and Bowling Green - October 17 -19.
In the Midwest alone, there will be more than a dozen nostalgia races in Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, etc. If you are a fan or racer of nostalgia drag racing, start making your plans now for what looks to be one hell of a year for nostalgia drag racing in the Heartland!
On the subject of a "real" Jr. Fuel class, I would love to see that happen and would also love to participate in such a class.

I just read the story about how Kenny Nowling fulfilled the wishes of John Winberry, who later passed away from Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 16. That was a very nice thing that Kenny did, and it wasn't just a one-time meeting at the dragstrip either, but he also involved himself with John until the end. I'm now a Kenny Nowling fan for life.

SHOW US THE MONEY!

I heard HDP was short of the money to buy NHRA when I was at the Hot Rod Reunion and a few people were saying the same thing at Pomona! Does anyone know the people behind this company? Their stock is trading average of 7500 shares a day, supposedly they take over in Jan. 1, 08! Strange, they have about 123 million dollars to buy NHRA, but where will the rest come from?
Sponsors hate uncertainty and many are on the side lines because of this buy out! I hope that NHRA will be growing bigger next year, but I heard Evan Knoll will do a boycott at Pomona, which will be bad for other sponsors! Racing in ‘08 is worse than watching the presidential elections!

WHAT’S A YEAR, GIVE OR TAKE?
Was looking at the Whaddaya Know section and seen a question about the last funny car winner in Dallas. I believe however it was 1971, not 1970. The late Leroy Goldstein in the Ramchargers won in '70, and Schumacher in '71. I could be wrong but that is what my stats show.

WORMS OR FLIES?
I wonder how many people there are out there who hate this new (Countdown) system. I never thought I would consider going fishing instead of packing up to attend a national event. The more I think about it, I think I will just go fishing.

YEAH, WE WANT TO KNOW TOO, MICHAEL
As an avid drag racing fan and an African-American who also teaches technology in a minority high school, I talk to my students a lot about other African-Americans involved in motorsports. Being in Charlotte, NC, most times I'm asked, "Are there any black drivers in NASCAR?" Bill Lester is the only full time A-A driver. But, I say "There are more in drag racing.” There's J.R. Todd (TF), Tommy Hammonds (PS), Reggie Phillips, Antron Brown and Peggy Llewellyn in PS-Bike.
I understand that at the pro level, everything evolves around money. But what I and, I'm sure, other A-A fans who follow drag racing want to know is...How does Peggy Llewellyn, who as a black, female rookie, that makes it to the final 4 in the NHRA Pro Stock Bike championship chase, NOT get rehired by her team to continue for 2008? (DRO Agent 1320, 12/4/07) Is there something more to this that's not being said? 'Cause this makes no sense to me, financially, for the team (marketing and exposure) or otherwise. Just to do the right thing.
