THINKS WE'RE WONDERFUL (blush)
Just a quick note to tell you guys that I think you are
doing a pretty wonderful job of covering the ins and outs of drag racing
online. The site has a nice balance of hard news, features and tech
stories, good action photos, great columns, and a lot of ATTITUDE. Stevie
would have loved it!!!

JUST WONDERIN' ABOUT ALCOHOL CLASSES?
Why any racing assoc. would think that rules for equality
would make racers happy?
Just Wonderin - Why after all these years of misguided
neglect by a racing assoc. they now think maybe there are too few cars
in the lanes.
Just Wonderin - How cutting the events they go
to and paying the same amount overall can be considered a pay increase?
It is simply a larger slice of pie for fewer people!
Just Wonderin - If the Racing assoc. understands
that living qtrs. and big trailers was a move to eliminate meal and
motel expenses - not a showmanship grab?
Just Wonderin - If the number of full passes made
in the Alch. ranks, compared to the smokers in the Fuel classes are
considered boring by you writers then maybe a little time with what
is truly the grassroots bunch of racers would be in order?? These guys
are truly a good show they just lack any promotion of what it takes
to do this at today's level!
Just Wonderin - Where all the previous World Champ
Alch. racers are plying their talents, not that many make it into the
Fuel Classes?
Just Wonderin - Where have the days gone when the
kid started the car, which Dad built, and everyone came together as
a family for a weekend at the races? Guess the 6-second et's and 8.71
blowers have ended up in the same pile as the originial Pro-Comp concept
but then is today's racing making racers, fans and tracks any (Happier)?
There are currently a whole bunch of Alch. combos out here running events
not at selected National or Div. events but as shows for Outlaw Fuel
Alts, etc. Guess that is where the cars have gone!!
Just Wonderin - How can anyone expect this Drag
Racing show to continue if no one has any chance to break even?

WONDER NO MORE
Just Wondering ... Is there anybody that doesn't understand
yet that national event level drag racing isn't a sport? Just like NASCAR,
WoO, and the WWF, drag racing is Sports Entertainment with the sole
goal of making the owners and their employees money. Once you accept
those facts, the decisions of the sanctioning bodies make a lot more
sense...business sense, that is.
Also, you might want to write that there was one solitary
person who believed that 22 years ago when no one else did. And proceeded
to capture that aspect from the git go---tell it like it is!

WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS?
Well Burk, you think it is just terrible that some Truck
racers will sue NHRA. Or is it some Agent 1320 that thinks that?
If it was a "Business decision" to blow away that class
in mid season and give the racers zero opportunity to liquidate their
expensive and specialized equipment, fine.
I guess it will be a "Business decision " to sue an arrogant,
nasty organization that repeatedly assured the truck racers that things
were fine and under control and a decision would be made at an appropriate
time etc.........
The NHRA has made a habit of treating racers and spectators
and sponsors like bugs. The chickens do come home to roost, what say
Jeff?

SPREAD THE MONEY FURTHER
Jok, I always enjoy your comments and many times agree
with your ideas. I think spreading more pay into the early rounds is
very much a good idea. Anytime more racers climb those stairs to the
pay window it's a good thing.
I know from personal experience that coming home with
a small check is much better than no check.

JOK'S DEAD-ON AGAIN
Jok, I agree with you 100%. Hope something can be done
before it's too late.

KEEP BRACKET RACING SIMPLE
This is the mind-set that will change the way events and
tracks are run around the country. I feel that if you get down to the
basics of racing, that more racers will attend and new racers will join
the sport. Events today are too complicated. For most racers this sport
is a hobby not an occupation. Not everything in today's society should
be complicated.
I enjoy drag racing for the fellowship, thrill, and the
competition. It's a means of escape for me.
