UEM Top Fuel Bike

Europe’s only five second fuel bike received a bit of chassis strengthening over the winter to cure the occasional wobble that Peter Svensson has had to ride out as the power of the Billet Racing motor is poured on. The changes seemed to work at Mantorp as a 4.074/187 was the start of a new European eighth mile record. An experiment with a new Goodyear slick delivered substantially more wheel speed off the startline on a subsequent pass, but violent shake prevented a full pull. 5.8s could be on the cards over the full quarter before the end of the season.

Still on double duty with his cloned Nitro Dukes running in Top Fuel Bike and Super Twin, Jaska Salakari has started to really explore the potential in the blown combination, although the #56 bike is working the best of the pair. A 4.125 might sound somewhat distant to Svensson’s numbers to the uninitiated, but it is the best eighth mile clocking by a twin cylindered bike in Europe by a huge chunk and undoubtedly the pass of the weekend among the UEM classes.
