Jeff Hansen worked hard for his first event win at the helm of his ProCharger-equipped ‘69 Camaro. The Wildwood, Missouri, racer has tested his machine into the ground and produced two straight 4.75 runs at 148 mph in the series’ only eighth-mile division, Outlaw Eliminator. Seen here stopping Tim Mallicoat, Jr., in the semi-finals, Hansen has also now assumed the point lead in the 2010 championship race. Jeff Van’s immaculate fuel-injected ‘77 Monza was consistent enough to earn a berth in the Outlaw Eliminator final round and became an instant fan hit with burnouts like this.
John DeFlorian had a tough outing in his Jerry Haas Race Cars/Bankston Brothers nitrous oxide-injected Corvette; after qualifying fourth in the field, the St. Louis native suffered tire shake severe enough to break the wheelie bars! Kawasaki rider Keith Hug (near lane) won this semifinal battle over Mike Wagner’s Kaw ZX7 with a 7.70/163.61 and then stepped up to Low ET at 7.62 in the final round of the Outlaw Motorcycle division. The Lo Boy-chassised screamer moved into the point lead with the pole qualifying position, three round wins and the victory.
