The Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association held its first National event at historic Rockingham (NC) Dragway and Pro Stock racer Cary Goforth’s waded through a stellar field of racers to get the first win. The MMPSA event was part of the 15th annual Patriot Performance Holcomb Motorsports Civil Wars Weekend.

Goforth, from Holdenville, OK, had a nearly perfect weekend of racing as he grabbed the number one qualifying spot, won the race and just missed resetting the Mountain Motor Pro Stock ET record when he ran an outstanding 6.258/220.84 during Saturday’s night qualifying session.

That ET could have been one leg of a new record by he couldn’t repeat or improve on his Saturday qualifying blast, so the record currently held by Frank Gugliotta at 6.251 is safe until the next race.

Just 15 cars tried to qualify for the 16-car field, which meant that the number one qualifier would get a bye run into the second round.

Pete Berner went three rounds.
