Danny Perry who was gracious in defeat said, "We came out and a 4.051 in the last round of qualifying and that was with me letting out. The way the car was running it would have probably run a 4.03 but I had to get out of it before the finish line. It got a little loose on the top and that’s why we lost six mph. The air was changing and the round before it didn’t get up on the two step good. I adjusted the carburetors and in the final it didn’t come on the two step at all. When I finally did get it to come up, he was gone. It was too late for then. We had a good day though, got to the finals again. I want to thank Jimmy and Brad Boone for giving me this opportunity."
Danny went on to say, "I want to thank my dad Bobby for his support and my wife Tracy. Mid-Atlantic is a great asset to us and we want them to know how much we appreciate them. ATI has built us a great transmission and we want to thank them too. Also, a big thanks to RPM Motorsports and Carolina Drilling."
An elated Jim Teachman said, "Everybody did a great job. I can’t say enough about Joe, Mike and the rest of the crew. They all did a wonderful job. My thanks go out to everyone that has contributed to this program. I want to thank my wife Missy for putting up with me and letting me do this. I can’t say how much I appreciate the time and effort Joe Lepone has given me to help me get this far."
"The crew and everyone did a great job tonight." said Joe Lepone Jr "Jim always makes us look on the starting line. His reaction times were a .003, .006 and he was a little late in the final round wit his .012. It’s really nice working with a guy that we don’t have to worry about getting the car down the track. I also want to thank Mark Joyce and Mooresville Dragway for putting this race on. I want to thank my wife Cynthia, she cooks for everybody and keeps the car clean. "
Jim Teachman added, "We probably have the smallest motor in the house here tonight. It’s a 737 cubic inch motor. I want to thank Virginia Speed for their support. Also, thanks to Mike Ram for building Our transmissions." ![]()
