There were plenty of big speeds from the Nitro Funny Cars led by Leah Pruett-LeDuc driving Steve Plueger’s “Plueger & Gyger” Mustang. Her jaw-dropping 255.78-mph charge in the final round of qualifying that included an unheard of 199.99-mph speed at the half track coupled with a 5.736 elapsed time led the nitro flopper qualifying. A previous 253.97 lap got the team the new speed mark; Kris Krabill in the Cory Lee-tuned “Pedaler” owned by Gary Turner was the next closest performer with his 5.819 ET at 253.52 mph pass. Krabill would later record a 254.90 in his first round match with Troy Green to back up that performance.
