QUICK STREET

Chris Biggerstaff  (James Drew photo)

Sixteen cars showed up for the 9.60 index class and one of the best PSCA has to offer, Chris Biggerstaff, led the way at a 9.607 for the top spot. In the final, though, it was all Ryan Chesleigh in his family Camaro running a right-on blast of 9.604 at 140.57 mph while Mike Sigmon ran just a bit too quick at 9.528/137.01 mph. Sigmon’s unique Morris Minor is from Las Vegas.

MEAN STREET

Roy Somers set the pace (10.610) in qualifying for Mean Street (10,60 index) but it was that guy in his wild black Vega, The Machine Mike Nordahl collecting another trophy for the wall at 10.619, 127.96 mph just narrowly defeating Roy Somers at 10.632, 121.57 mph

OPEN COMP

Twenty-three entries in the Open Comp class led by Dan Maricano (above) during time trials, and Maricano, who is the Mustang Madness 2008 Champion, put his trusty dark blue Mustang into the final here too. He was edged out though by Steve Pramov’s family owned Vega in the final as Steve ran a 9.65 on his 9.67 dial to Dan’s 10.35 on a dial-in of 10.31. (James Drew photo)

MUSTANG MADNESS

Mustang Madness is becoming a very popular class in PSCA competition with a total of 29 cars making this tough field. Once again though it was the two guys that seem to rule this category with that same Dan Maricano and Scott Dool in the grand finale. Both guys ran their best as they both broke out on the dial ins, with Dan Maricano’s 10.31 (on a 10.32) besting Dool’s 10.82 (on a 10.95) for all the glory of the Mustang class.

TROPHY CLASS

Tony Piraino in his 1964 Chevelle out of Fullerton swept the second largest field of cars which was the Trophy class when he left on worn-out Kenny Snow who made at least seven passes in the bright Blue 71 Vega towards the end of the event. Tony’s dial of 12.85 was good enough when he ran a 12.921 as Kenny ran a little bit too quick with his La Habra-based Vega at 10.31 (dial-in of 10.32).

BRACKET #1

A huge field of 57 cars ran in Bracket One with two of the best in the business, Kenny Snow and veteran bracket race Steve Cox and his white Camaro out of Palmdale. Kenny’s dial in was a 10.32 so his 10.340 was fantastic when Cox ran just a hair too quick 10.415 (on a 10.42 dial).
