MUSTANG MADNESS

Dan Maricano and his dark blue Mustang, which swept all honors in 2007, finally got back on its winning ways after he had to calm down the wheelies and defeated Duane Creft in the final round 10.566/117.64 to Creft’s 11.552/118.85.

SUPER INDEX

Jaclyn Generalao was the closest to the 8.60 index for this class with the family T roadster at 8.607/152.24. In the final it was Ron Oddo and his 1968 Camaro from Lancaster, CA, just edging out Flattop Steve Faller in the final round. Oddo ran a right-on 8.600 at 158.20 and Faller’s ‘55 (with new flames!) ran 8.614 at 155.17 mph. It was a super tight race at the end as neither driver knew who had won till the crews arrived to pick them up!

TROPHY

Fred Geling put his trusty ‘92 Mustang into the winners circle for the very first time by running a 10.224 at 130.78 mph over a very game Ken Spears 1954 Chevy truck at 10.149/130.32. Rick Emanuel was the number one qualifier in the class.

QUICK STREET

After Mark Capps from Madera, CA, was a perfect 9.600 during qualifying with his 1967 Mustang he was nowhere to be seen in the grand finale. It was that guy from North Las Vegas in his 1971 Vega, Michael Hadrath, against Chris Biggerstaff and his ‘67 Camaro, Both drivers left very well but both broke out too on the 9.60 index with Hadrath breaking out less at 9.567 and145.97 mph to Biggerstaff’s 9.556/134.03.

Of course what race would be complete without a jet car exhibition to light up the night?
