Army Armstrong brought back the Sixties feel in the “Jungle Jim” Camaro.
Fans attending the Geezers at The Grove Reunion at Maple Grove Raceway on Saturday, Sept. 19, had a chance to take a trip back to the 1960s.
After a long day of racing, which featured over 300 entrants, cars from the Beetles decade won five of the seven classes. Winners included ones ranging from a 1964 Comet to a ’68 Barracuda and a ’65 backseat dragster.
Capping the events were an exhibition of nostalgia Funny Cars and a car show that featured nearly 100 entries.
Justice Brothers Car Care Products sponsored two classes for cars from before 1984.
Class 2 featured cars with no electronics and that was won by Mike Tomaszewski (Mount Penn, Pa.), who drove his ’68 Barracuda past a ’51 GMC driven by Maple Grove regular Denny Renninger (Leesport, Pa.) with a pass of 10.841 seconds at 131.42 mph.
