Ivan Birch was yet another reigning champion to dominate his ACU eliminator, this one being ACU Competition Bike. A final session 7.605/174 put him on pole position going into eliminations when he clicked off a 7.510 for low ET in the first round, another pair of 7.5s sent him to the winner’s circle with the second being a final round defeat of Dave Peters at 7.539/174.

ACU Superstreet Bike is currently the strongest of the bike classes, both in terms of performance and also strength in depth, but despite the very best efforts of many, it would seem that Steve Venables could be in line for his third championship title in a row (and fourth in the last five years) with a low qualifier (7.455) and the low ET of the meeting in defeating Rick Stubbins in the final round, 7.466/185 to 7.648/188. Stubbins isn’t going to let Ven have things all his own way, having qualified second and accumulated a healthy haul to keep pace in the points chase.
