The Qatar Racing Club hosted the final race of its five-race season the weekend of May 15-16 at the Club’s track located on the outskirts of the capital city of Doha.
About eighty teams from all over the Persian Gulf made the tow to race at the last event of the Qatar drag racing season.

Teams representing Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States were on hand to compete. Many of the teams towed more than seven hours with their vehicles on open trailers to attend the event.

The partisan Qatar crowd that filled the stands on both Friday and Saturday were rewarded when Qatar teams delivered wins in the top two classes Pro Mod and Top Sportsman.

Von Smith driving for the Qatar-based Al-Anabi team not only won the race but clinched the Pro Mod Championship in a bitterly contested points chase between the Bahrain 1 team and the Al-Anabi team. Smith’s winning drive insured that a Qatar team won its Championship.

The Bahrain Drag Racing Club Pro Mod Championship was won two weeks earlier by Ali Aryan in a race that was disputed by the owner of the Al-Anabi team, Sheikh Khalid Al-Thani. Both club championships are run under the supervision of the Arabian Drag Racing League.
