The Fuchs Oil dragster of Phil Lamattina was low qualifier with a 4.773/306.40 in what was originally a nine car field. He made it to the semi finals with 5.25 win over last year’s winner Phil Read, however a slowing 7.07/117.85 fell to eventual runner up, Terry Sainty’s 5.18.

2007 winner, Phil Read had a tough time trying to tame the hot and humid conditions that saw him qualify last with a best of 6.44. A first round peddle fest went opponent Phil Lamattina’s way – 5.25 to 5.75.
