In other Fuel Altered action, in the second round the “Nanook” and the “Rat Trap” were paired in the final round to determine the World Series Champ on the merit of having the two quickest laps. By that time the dew was coming up on the track, which had been already subjected to numerous oil-downs, so handling was a bit of a problem.

Ron Hope drove the “Rat Trap” down the tricky track recording a 7.999/161.38 for the title. In the other lane Randy Baker spun the tires hard in the “Nanook” and impacted the guard wall. The hit was hard enough to move the engine five inches and, according to sources, the Houghs will have to take the altered back to Las Vegas for repairs.
