The Swedish stop on the European Drag Racing Championship tour is one of the most eagerly awaited by racers and fans alike, although the lumps, bumps and very short shutdown area tend to give crew chiefs sleepless nights. Throw in the hottest weekend on record in Sweden and those nightmares turn to metaphorical sweats to accompany the all too literal rivers streaming off the foreheads of all assembled in the staging lanes. The racing distance for Top Fuel had, wisely, been reduced to 1000 feet for the first time in Europe saving some carnage and the occasional off among the impressive 13 car field. Equally impressive was FIA Pro Modified, a point underlined by the 6.491 second bump for the 16 car field, the quickest ever seen in Europe.
