After stepping out from Top Fuel Dragster a couple of seasons ago, Tommy Moller has been testing out the two wheeled scene and is planning on running the full UEM tour this season with his Fast Cat Fuel Harley. It will be interesting to see how he fares in 2008 although we’re not anticipating Tommy repeating his Fuel Dragster party trick of waving to the crowd in the burnout just yet.

UEM Pro Stock Bike

After much rumour and conjecture during the off-season about who would run and who wouldn’t, reigning champion Tom Tinndahn rumbled out ahead of the Pro Stock Bike field with a straightforward looking 7.264 from his G2 Buell. With many of the Scandinavian Suzuki riders being absent from the first round, it looks as if the only thing stopping Tinndahn from a second title in a row is someone buying the bike off of him.

Returning to the UEM tour after a two year sabbatical, Chris Hope has acquired a Vance & Hines bullet for his Nimbus Motorsport Hayabusa and was more than favourably impressed by the quoted horsepower numbers. The next step is getting the rider and chassis in synch and the power to the ground start chasing down the Buell and the other Suzuki riders.

Nitro Funny Car

Whilst it’s gone a bit quite on the much talked about Nitro Funny Car championship front, Gary Page and John Spuffard took the opportunity to shake the cobwebs out of their floppers in a truncated match race session. The Mongoose Exhausts/Pennzoil car, owned by Kenneth Lorentzon, appeared to be a little light at the front end giving Page a real steering job to try and keep the car running straight.
