FIA Top Methanol

The Islanders team headed by Paul Ingar Udtian found a nice way to celebrate their new Q8 Oils sponsorship on what is now a contender for the Best Appearing Car Award on the FIA tour (if such an award existed…). A 5.600/255.17 laid waste to their pre-event PBs and placed them handily on pole in Top Methanol Dragster. Perhaps a changing of the guard is coming in the class for 2008.

A further indication that the “new” kids on the block might have a big say in TMD category in 2008 was Timo Habermann wheeling his ex-Duane Shields chassis to a 5.617/252 (another racer scoring a PB at the opening event of the season) to drop into second spot behind the Norwegian Udtian. With multi-time champion Dave Wilson thrashing to get the all new A/Fuel motor up and running in the Silverline entry and Rob Turner smashing his drivetrain to bits in the final qualifying, it might be left to Peter Schofer and Krister Johansson to defend the honour of the elder statesmen of the class.
