Former IHRA Pro Stock and Pro Mod champ
Tommy Mauney was on hand for a test session with his ’63 split window. His 4.01 at 179.82 in the eighth with a 1.00 sixty foot time would have placed him towards the top in any show in the country.

If you’re ever down in the sand hills of Carolina, you definitely want to try the barbeque, a Cheerwine cola and some golf. If you’re there in April, forget all that and go to the Holcomb Motorsport’s Spring Civil Wars at Rockingham. Now in its 13th year, this former all Mustang event has evolved into a key event for street car and outlaw racers throughout the mid Atlantic states.

This year’s event had all the cars and stars it always does, but was faced with a premature end after the dark skies opened up with heavy rain. The fans may have gone home a little wet, but they were satisfied still and eager for the next edition that will run in the fall.

He may not have one of the more recognizable cars, but Jimmy Blackmon continued to show he’s a force to be reckoned in Outlaw 10.5 with by qualifying first in his turbo Pontiac with a 4.575 at 174.35. Blackmon continued his dominance at the Rock by running low ET in every round with a 4.508 best before the rains came.
