The Chrysler Lancer (Plymouth Arrow to you) of Stephen Crook certainly was spectacular over the course of the event. He carried the front wheels of the battle scarred sedan up high on every pass before bowing out in the first frame to Darryl Stephen.

After a long break from racing, Victorian racer, Darren DiFilippo tried to regain his licence in his white fuel dragster. As can be seen when he gave the throttle a stab on this pass his head was thrown into the windscreen and then was thrown back as the fueller then stood up on its rear tyres. In the end he didn’t qualify for the field but had a number of check out passes anyway.

The calm before the storm. Allan Dobson creeps into stage for his semi-final run against eventual winner Martin Stamatis. Less than five seconds later the engine of the Uplift Cranes entry was to suffer a massive fireball in the traps that
dashed any hopes of a win against the fellow Westralian driver.

The turbocharged big block Modified T-bucket of Mark Hinchelwood is putting out a massive amount of power for such a short wheel-based machine. As can be seen here there is fluid spraying under the left hand slick and as he travelled down track he ended up carving up the timing blocks as his bucket crossed over the centreline much to the surprise of his opponent.

The semi-finals of Top Bike saw the two Jack Daniels Harley’s of Brett Stevens (far lane) and Troy Maclean face off. In the end both won – Stevens won the race while Maclean won the Australian championship. He had already clinched it going into the semis as he secured the title by some two points with another event to go.
