Tyronne Tremayne’s 7.174 in his Cobalt in the second round should have easily nailed John Barbagello’s Ford Escort ‘s 7.219 save the fact that he went to sleep on the lights much to Barbagello’s delight.

Shane Tucker’s Jegs-sponsored Holden Monaro (GTO) promised a lot but with only three weeks to prepare he was stuck in the 7.3 zone – a round one red light didn’t help matters.
In the first round Lee Bektash had the measure of John Galea’s Chev Cobalt despite leaving second as a 7.16/190.27 turned back Galea who got out of the groove and shut off. Aaron Tremayne then ended Rob Tucker’s day just as quickly when a later leaving 7.151/189.16 turned back an out of the groove 9.65. In the second round Baktash quickened the pace to a 7.15/198.16 to more than cover Frank Nirta’s Oldsmobile slowing 8.02 while Tremayne had the measure of Bruce Leake’s Olds thanks to a better reacting 7.152 /190.44 that more than covered a 7.32.

Bruce Leake ran three solid 7.3-second qualifying times and thanks to a red light from Shane Tucker he made it to the second round, only to be mowed down by eventual winner Aaron Tremayne with a 7.15 to 7.32.

The Oldsmobile of Frank Nirta had a solid weekend, making it to the second round of the bracket where he fell to eventual runner up Bektash with an off pace 8.02.
