ALCOHOL FUNNY CAR
Veteran IHRA distaff racer Laurie Cannister spanked the boys in the IHRA A/FC class. As the saying goes in drag racing circles she “ran the table” on the rest of the competitors. Cannister, with her husband Dale tuning, set Top Speed and Low ET for the class (3.731/198.32), qualified number one, and had Top Speed and Low ET in every round of eliminations on her way to defeating former World Champ Rob Atchison in the finals. She used her worst ET of the race, a 3.843, to get the win.
The 3.84 was also the second-best ET of the meet for the A/FC. After the race Mrs. Cannister spoke of her husband’s efforts in getting her the win. “Dale does a great job getting this car ready to race,” Cannister said. “He helps me so much and tells me what adjustments to make as the day goes by. I definitely could not do this without him.”
