Nostalgia Super Stock

Mark Artis

Nostalgia Super Stock presented a veritable cornucopia of good races and great cars, leading off with the matchup between Jim Netherland and Dave Schultz. Schultz drove his ’65 Coronet to a 9.50 on a 9.520, while Netherland’s ’67 Buick GS pulled out a 10.50/10.468. Schultz’s .099 red light would hand the win to Netherland. Barry Camp brought his ’62 Bel Air to oppose Mark Artis’ ’63 Galaxie, but it wasn’t enough, as Artis’ RT of .055 saw his 10.166/10.00 to victory over Camp’s asleep-at-the-tree .264 RT followed by a phenomenal 10.001/10.00 run.

Next up was a battle of twins, as Glenn Bedingfield and Douglas Posevich both brought ’66 Ford Fairlanes to the strip. Both men and cars put up a valiant effort, but Bedingfield went under, snagging a 10.496 on a 10.50 dial-in to Poskevich’s 11.503/11.50. Following that was TD Holland and Patrick Judd. Judd turned in a 17.068 against Holland’s 10.519/10.50. Brian Merrick next fought Mike Davis. The former’s 10.012/10.00 not being enough to overcome his .103 RT, and Davis would advance with a 10.569/10.50 and a .021 RT. And finally, DW Hopkins advanced past Ava Thompson, 9.515/9.50 vs. 10.470/10.50.

In the second round, Netherland fell to Artis, who pulled a 10.056/10.00 against Netherland’s 10.575/10.50, Holland shut down Poskevich with a .047 RT and a 10.535/10.50 to a .106 RT and an 11.510/11.50. Hopkins wrangled a 9.569/9.50, but Davis was sporting a 10.515/10.50, and Hopkins moved on to the semi-finals.

In semi-finals Artis took the easy way down the track on his bye run with a 1.057 RT, and a 16.223 ET on a 10.00 dial-in. Meanwhile, Holland overcame Davis’ 10.850/10.50 with his own 10.634/10.50, setting up the final round.

TD Holland

In the end, try as he might, Artis couldn’t close the deal, and a .248 RT and a 9.999/10.00 conspired to see Holland to victory lane on the strength of a .013 RT and a 10.581/10.50.
